Bio‑Oil researches and develops specialist skincare products, using oil to achieve superior product performance. In 1987 Bio‑Oil pioneered using oil to help improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Oil has the remarkable ability to improve the skin. How and why, is not completely understood as the benefits of oil are mostly known only through folklore. Bio‑Oil® Skincare Oil was one of the first products to submit an oil to clinical trials and prove that it could improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks. It was the success of these trials that prompted doctors and pharmacists around the world to begin recommending the product. Bio‑Oil has developed a 100% natural version of its original scar and stretch mark product. The product performed equally well in clinical trials, making it the first time a natural product has been proven to match the performance of a category-leading product. Bio‑Oil® Skincare Oil (Natural) began its global rollout in Q3 2020.
If you pour oil and water into a glass, the oil will rise to the top and stop the water from evaporating. Skin holds in its moisture the same way, by producing an invisible oily layer on its surface. The best way to help the skin stop losing moisture is to supplement this layer. Traditional dry skin products (creams, lotions and butters) contain on average around 20% oil, wax or butter for this purpose. Bio‑Oil® Dry Skin Gel contains 84%. In the 18 months since launch, Bio‑Oil® Dry Skin Gel has won skincare product of the year in the UK, France, Italy and Spain.
The ideal daily moisturiser should absorb instantly and leave no greasy residue, making it possible to get dressed immediately. Technically this is very difficult because moisturisation requires leaving an oily layer on the skin to help hold in moisture. Bio‑Oil has developed a moisturising cream, with a high oil content, that leaves no greasy residue, just an invisible silky layer on the skin. Bio‑Oil® Daily Moisturiser is in the final stages of product testing and is expected to launch in Q1 2021.
Fragrance is the ultimate form of grooming. It is the finishing touch, the least practical, but the most powerful. Bio‑Oil has extracted the oil from the Rose, Neroli and Jasmine flowers and is offering them as body sprays to be used as the finishing touch in body grooming. Previously all Bio‑Oil’s research has been focused on how to use oil to solve skincare problems, now, for the first time, Bio‑Oil explores the power of oil purely for enhancement. Bio‑Oil has developed a vitamin-enriched sunscreen to help boost the skin’s natural defences whilst exposed to the sun. Bio‑Oil® Multivitamin SPF50 is in the initial stages of testing and is expected to launch in Q3 2021.
